What is Alex’s Lemonade Stand
Alex’s Lemonade Stand is a national childhood cancer foundation dedicated to raising money for research into new treatments and cures for all children battling cancer.
Many kids inspire us with their bravery, their determination, and their heart for helping others, no matter what. One girl has inspired not only the Monkey Joe’s crew, but the entire world. Alexandra Scott started her campaign to help kids with childhood cancer when she was only 4. She was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer, just before her first birthday, and had become very familiar with hospitals and kids with cancer. She saw just how big of a difference a caring heart could have, and she was determined to give back. So she and her brother set up a lemonade stand and earned over $2,000 that first day!
Alex’s Lemonade Stand now encourages others to set up their own lemonade stands to raise money for childhood cancer research. Unfortunately, Alex is no longer with us, but her legacy lives on, earning millions of dollars for childhood cancer research through the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
12,074 events and lemonade stands were held across the world last year and $21 million was raised to fight childhood cancer.
How You Can Help
It’s amazing what a simple cup of lemonade can do! From June 2-10, every cup of lemonade sold at each Monkey Joe’s location will be donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Some of our locations are even building lemonade stands of their own! You can also donate to childhood cancer research any time you’re at Monkey Joe’s this month or on our fundraising link here. Every dollar helps! No matter how much you want to give, or how many pennies your kids dig out of their piggy banks, your donations will make a difference.
