Cutting Down on Screen Time Can Help Kids Get Active

Posted on Jan 15, 2016

These days it can be quite the challenge to get kids away from their screens. From smartphones to computers, television, video games and so on, kids are spending an extraordinary amount of time in front of screens. On average, the typical American child spends an astonishing seven hours a day looking at entertainment media. The negative impact of this sedentary behavior is cause for concern according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Anyone who is a parent of a young child should know that staring into screens for hours on end can have negative effects on both physical and mental health. Excessive media use leads to all sorts of problems with school, attention span and even eating habits. It's easy to see why so many parents are pushing their kids away from the screen toward physical activities and traditional hobbies like board games, books and crafts.

One of the best ways to get your kids away from the screen and onto their feet is a day at Monkey Joe's indoor inflatable playground in Winter Park, Florida.
