3 Tips to Help Kids Beat the Heat

Posted on May 22, 2015

Hot weather can make your kids feel uncomfortable and grumpy, (admit it: the heat makes you feel the same way!) but excessive heat can also be dangerous to our bodies. Its time to find some refreshing and family-friendly summer activities in Orlando to help your kids beat the heat and have fun!

According to Nationwide Children's, these are some important hot weather safety tips to keep in mind for kids:

  • Avoid playing strenuously outdoors during the peak hours of sunlight. Generally, people overheat or have a higher risk of sunburn between 11 am and 3 pm.
  • Wear breathable, lightweight clothing. That clothing should also be light-colored since dark colors absorb heat.
  • Take a water break every 15 to 30 minutes in hot weather. Remember to drink water every 10 minutes when it's humid.

Of course, there's one place you can go for active summer fun for kids in Orlando without having to worry about sunburn or heat- Monkey Joe's! Our indoor inflatable playground is a respite from sweltering Florida summers.

Monkey Joe's Pointe Orlando is for families with children ages 12 and under. It's the perfect place to stay cool even during the hottest hours of the day.
