Teaching Kids about Heart Health

Happy Kids, Happy Hearts

Having a healthy heart is something that is extremely important, not just for you, but for the people you love. This isn't just the month for roses and chocolate hearts; it's also the time to focus on the heart inside your body. February is American Heart Month, and Monkey Joe's Copperfield Crossing wants to do our part to share the importance of promoting heart health to your kids. There are a lot of things that you can do to make your heart healthier and stronger. Eating right is one way to develop a healthier heart--make sure your kids stay energized with snacks during active playtime, and always balance tasty foods like pizza with fruit, milk, and other healthy snacks. Active play is another awesome way to help kids stay healthy. Getting in a good amount of exercise can benefit the heart in a variety of ways.

  1. Exercise strengthens the heart
  2. It allows the heart to create a better blood flow for the body
  3. It helps kids grow strong and healthy, which keeps the heart from overworking
  4. It lowers the risk of inflammation in the arteries
  5. It gives kids a better night’s sleep--something parents appreciate as much as their kids!

These heart benefits aren’t only good for grown ups, but for kids as well. Your kids don't know the value of exercise, but by teaching them that physical fitness can be fun, you're instilling healthy values that will last them a lifetime. Bring your child to Monkey Joe’s to get the exercise they need to take care of their hearts, all while having the time of their lives!
